Ashford 4th V Bexley & Belvedere
Ashford 4th Team get their first league win with a 4-2 Victory at Ball Lane on Saturday 10th October.
Ashford started with a clear strategy of simple passing and high ball pace which created opportunities early in the game and a short corner was gained quickly – well pushed out by Mat Clifford, expertly stopped by Hugh Richards with a firm 1st strike into the bottom right hand corner of the goal by Ray Semadeni.
Ashford continued to press the advantage and Ross Sledger scored Ashford’s 2nd at the end of an excellent passing moving.
Bexley didn’t give up and with some good passing moves at the end of the 1st half and beginning of the second they got 2 goals to draw level.
This didn’t affect Ashford’s game plan and Mat Clifford pressed hard up front and fought back in defence and his excellent effort resulted in Mat scoring 2 well taken goals to get Ashford a well deserved victory.
Mat takes man of the match but noticeable performances include Elliot Bingham and his old man Graham Bingham in defence and the whole team must be commended for maintaining the agreed strategy and for a fantastic effort and with Josh Morris keeping us safe in defence.

The first team spent the week training very hard and rebuilding the moral after last weeks disapointing
Weekend. It was rewarded by a sterling effort and result coming back from the dead to steal victory
Against a very strong opposition.
Ashford dominated the opening exchanges as both sides seemed happy to play fast and open. End to end
Hockey was the result exchanging blows like a boxing match. Ashford somehow conceded two goals
Against the run of play.
The key was right on half time when the classic hockey counter attack down the left flank cheap hill
Playford all passing and moving superbly finished with a cute touch from handley to score.
The second half was all ashford first adam foxs hard work was repaid by a well taken first time goal
Going through the keepers legs. Oscrar hummerstone was in fine feTtle whiles cheap and pearce out wide
On midfield linked up nicely down the lines.
Finally playford elimiated two playerd anf fed fox down the left, he then wobbled into the area and
Hit a reverse stick cross to find the youthful stand in skipper chris pearce sliding in at the back
Stick to score the winner stunning the home team and their crowd.
Ashford held on and importantly kept eleven men on the field for the whole game.
Man of the match alex houstons aggressive defensive style impressed everyone.
Keeping Ashford safe since 1992
