JUNIORS ARE YOU INTERESTED IN UMPIRING OR WOULD LIKE TO GIVE IT A TRY?
Tim Whale county officer with regards to managing and developing all young umpires with the county says ……
“As a club we would like you to ask EVERYONE of your youth members about umpires and about getting them involved in umpiring, some may well want to take it seriously and consider it over playing- either way as a club, as a county- we are duty bound to promote the youth of this sport in the best way we can.
As you aware England Hockey are putting a lot of time and effort into the development of all forms of junior hockey- this includes umpiring. As a county we would like to be right at the top of tree in promoting young umpires and having the best around.
This county has produced several international umpires, and with the next wave coming through- current national panel and internationally capped umpires such as Paul Walker, Tim Whale, Tim Jenkins- all 3 umpires have passed and are going through the young umpire system, all making very positive steps towards becoming England's next Olympic umpire, we are really positive that the future of umpiring can be bright- if clubs work with us and with me/ SCHUA.
We want as many young umpires as possible within the Kent system, who knows the next name to join the list of highly talented national performing umpires may well be at your club.
But I need you help to start with, please get anyone who is interested, even if it is only a slight interest to email me on timmy_397@yahoo.co.uk
