M2 2021/22 End of Season Report

Men’s 2 P22 W8 D3 L11 GF53 GA70 GD-17 PTS 27 POS 7th
October 2021 saw a wealth of young and old talent ready & raring to build a very strong 2’s team and aim for a promotion & push AHC upwards.

Our first game we had availability concerns to get us off to a flying start against Holcombe which showcased the quality in our league. We arrived with 11 player which by the end of the game saw a loss and conversely the last game of the season still with 11 players.

A decision to develop the young guns of AHC into the 2’s was great to see with our old heads had an opportunity to be ground-breaking or a risk however coinciding with COVID and player availability the squad battled all season with never more than 13 players or different players each week.

5 games of real quality showcased that when we played well, we genuinely would compete with teams leagues above us and the development of many of our players has been excellent.

High praise to the sportsmanship and respect that George Simm applied taking on captaincy at the end of the season during my injuries and to all old boys for their support and youngsters for the step up and foresight to 2023 season positively.

PLAYER OF SEASON: George Simm
MOST IMPROVED: Jude Smythe
