Men’s 3 P22 W16 D3 L3 GF131 GA25 GD+106 PTS 51 POS 1st
PROMOTED AS CHAMPIONS!
It has been an exceptional year for the men’s 3’s this year, gaining promotion after securing top spot in the league. After a somewhat shaky start to the year losing 2 of their opening 4 games of the season, the team went on a barnstorming run including 10 straight victories from October through to January. The final standings confirmed the side scored a remarkable 130 league goals this term, with a goal difference of well over 100.
The success of the side has been built on hard work, camaraderie and a desire to play simple and attacking hockey.
Most improved player of the season: -
Michael Taylor: - Michael has undoubtedly run the furthest, and the fastest in the men’s 3’s this year, as he has been the legs of the team’s high press. More than this as the season has progressed, he has demonstrated a great desire to improve through listening to senior payers. He positional play and timing of runs has developed massively, and as a result so has his contribution in front of goal. He has been an instrumental part of the team’s success this year.
Player of the season: -
Allan Dawson: - Allan was an almost unanimous winner of this year’s award which is testament to his performances, and the appreciation of his fellow players. His season has been characterized by his penetrating runs to the base line, and an eye for an assist when there. He has had the occasional comedy missed chance which won’t be mentioned, but in reply has also contributed some hugely significant goals when the team has needed them most. He always gives 100% effort which again has lifted the side in key moments throughout the season.
