Ashford 2XI travelled to top of the table Old Williamsonians with high expectation after a good run of recent results. After a nervous opening ten minutes, Ashford’s confidence grew but a soft short corner was conceded following a soft green card for defender James Chamberlain. This didn’t deter Ashford who put together some fantastic passages of play with skipper Ben Davis and man of the match Ian Frazzle pulling the strings in midfield. Ashford pulled one back in the first half with a fantastic short corner routine - this was blocked on the line illegally leading to a p flick. The youthful Frazzle taking the chance well.
A stirring team talk at half time sent the team back out onto the pitch with a new strategy of pressing high which worked wonders, with goals from Adam Fox - finishing well and Allan Dawson leaping like a salmon (and connecting with the ball) being enough for Ashford to win 3-1. A good team performance - next up 2nd place Sevenoaks!
Our thoughts go out the the ladies of Burnt Ash who’s player was unfortunately taken to hospital before our game. We wish her a speedy recovery.
