The Road to Lee Valley - Episode 2

Sienna Mobbs

Sit back, seatbelts on, you are in for a ride!

Ashford (5) - (0) Old Williamsonians

Sundays... late mornings, TV on and chill until the mid afternoon roast.
But not this Sunday....

Ashford Mixed team had a second round EH cup game to look forward to, aiming to be one step closer to walking onto the hallow field at Lee Valley or maybe just an away day in Jersey. Lucky ladies....who's paying!!!

Although technically at home, the team ventured down to Great Chart for a 14:00 push back against Old Williamsonians.
With a bitter northernly wind, Ashford were keen to get moving and put on a show for the Ashford Ultras, dressed in black.... I didn't think we were at Selhurst park. Mr Taylor please confirm.

Ashford got off to a strong start, with Luke Wicken's wonder goal from 30cm... Screamer!!

One turned into two, Wicken again...Wow
Shows what you get if you concentrate on the hockey and not the opposition....ouch my leg xxx

Ashford, cheered on by their ultras produce some silky hockey, with combination plays Pep Guardiola would be proud of. It's hard not to be with Xavi (Wrighty) & Iniesta (Brightling) dictating the midfield. Although, I'm not sure Xavi ever told someone to settle it in the carpark.....naughty. Elgar we have found your mini-me.

It became 3 before halftime thanks to the wee little Irishman.... You Beautyyyyyyyy.... Nothing else to say on that one.

Tails were certainly up as the halftime whistle blew, with the half time huddle far more relaxed today - Smithers please learn.

The domination continue into the second half, with goals from Brightling & Bingham and chances at the other end kept to a minimum - thanks to the composure of Ashford back line. Smithers'ss, Jess, Gemma & Stan kudos. No Playboy we don't need your Strava account... I know you're reading this!

Sorry back to the game. Well what more to say, 5-0 at this point. No danger. 3rd round place secured. Time to sit back and witness Kiagh display Pirlo esque control, this game was being played at his pace...form is temporary, class permanent.
Can someone prepare the player of the month trophy and Moët Magnum, phot shoot Tuesday, any sponsors please get in touch.

The final whistle blew and the troops ventured back to the fortress. Match teas consumed and MoM, DoD decided. Well done MoM - Laura Brightling - fully deserved breaking many a mans ankle today. DoD goes to Mr Manning-Press, we don't need to repeat why but have this match report for my troubles.

Peace & love - see you all next week, with another double header. This time it's the turn of the Men's 040s - Sunday 2:30 push back... You won't be disappointed!
