Game of two halves!!!
From the push back Ashford Ladies 3’s started well against a strong Tunbridge Wells side. With some great defensive game play from player of the match Serena Elford and Lois Goodman, Kirstie Rogers and Orissa Mobbs securely holding the defence, pushing the ball wide up to midfield. This area was controlled by Kate Horton and Dee Keown who pushed up adding to the pressure, this meant that Ashford was keeping Tunbridge Wells in their own half. However, Tunbridge broke through and were awarded with a short corner against the run of play. Goalkeeper, Neave Jeffrey Fox, came out to make a great save with the defence staying strong but unfortunately Tunbridge scored. The half continued with Ashford playing well with Kate Laurie showing some great defensive skills. 1-0 at half time. Ashford still believed they could take the three points. Second half did not go to plan, unfortunately Ashford had to play on a defensive foot as Tunbridge had found another gear which resulted in 2 more goals being scored. For the remainder of the game Ashford did not give up, they fought hard with great breaks from Tilly Owen and Caroline Lawton. An amazing effort from the whole team, not the result the team deserved.
