Ashford Ladies 3’s drew the short straw this week with a 4.30pm pushback away at Sevenoaks. Ashford took an early lead when determined Bronwyn Hall chased a ball that Sevenoaks thought was going off. Hall then penetrated the D at speed, smashing the ball towards goal, deflected in off a Sevenoaks stick. The home team evenly matched Ashford, both teams putting pressure on each others defence. End to end hockey with some great saves from keeper, Neve Jeffrey Fox. Halftime score saw Ashford 2-1 down but knew they were capable of making a comeback. The second half saw Ashford battle hard against Sevenoaks’ fast forwards. Serena Elford, player of the match, had perfectly timed tackles, eliminating their forwards. Unfortunately, miscommunication in the defence led to a third goal from the home team. Numerous attempts from Ashford but the midfield struggled to find the forwards who were tightly marked. Final score a disappointing loss, 3-1 to Sevenoaks.
