Ashford vs Folkestone

After the long and arduous journey down the M20 to Folkestone, the 2nd XI began their battle against Folkestone optimists, a slow start put the 2s under pressure for most of the first half conceding multiple short corners and with some quality goalkeeping and defending, able to not concede however, unable to break through the optimists defence resulting in a half time stalemate. Early into the second half, Folkestone managed to convert an opportunity into a goal followed closely by a second. This kicked ashford into gear improving the quality of play. After winning a short corner Ben Davies converted with a drag flick putting ashford back into the game. A mistake from our defence lead to a p-flick which was heroically saved by our resident Viking, rob Austen. After this ashford rallied themselves to push towards the final whistle but were unable to find that final touch to put it into the net. Final score 2-1 to Folkestone.
